The media crew attached to the Office of the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, was earlier today bared from entering Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, venue of the colloquium for the 60th anniversary of the Midwest Referendum.

Eye witness gave report of how security men at the venue prevented the cameraman and other media aides to access the main arena.

It is alleged that the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Andrew Okungbowa gave the directive to the security men before they were physically forced them out of the venue.

In a video, apparently recorded from scene, Shaibu was seen insisting that the cameraman must accompany him inside the hall.

His plea fell on deaf ears and decided to leave the ceremony along with all his aides.

When contacted, the deputy governor confirmwd the incident and simply said: “Yeah! We are good.”

Midwest Herald reported yesterday, the drama during the thanksgiving service to mark 32 years of the state, inside government house in Benin City, when an aide prevented Comrade Shaibu from having access to the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

As at press time, messages sent to both the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Andrew Okungbowa, to get their sides of the story were not acknowledged.

However, a member of the Government House Press Crew told Midwest Herald reporter at the Sir Victor Uwaifo’s Creative Hub that, “the instruction given was to control media and have a central system to feed other media, including his (Shaibu’s) media.
