Keyamo Clarifies Airline Operators Voluntarily Decision to Buy Jet A-1 Fuel from Dangote Refinery
The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo has reinstated his comments on the decision by airlines in Nigeria to buy Jet-A1 from Dangite refinery in Lagos.
Arising from Keyamo’s interview with the Channels Television, Nairametrics erroneously misquoted him as saying that: “FG approves Dangote Refinery as sole supplier of jet fuel to Nigeria airline operators.” But the minister through his X handle denounced this, as untrue.
“This is a misrepresentation of what I said. The correct position is that the Airline Operators of Nigeria voluntarily decided they would patronise Dangote Refinery in their purchase of Jet A1 fuel.”
During his interview with Channels, Keyamo said:
“You can see that yesterday we started naira-for-crude purchase with Dangote. It’s all Naira, no Dollar component.”
He noted that, sourcing petrol from Dangote would shield airline operators from the impact of crude oil price fluctuations, ultimately reducing their operational costs.
“The price will no longer be subjected to the varying factors of the international market, nor the headwinds of oil price in the international market.
“It will be in local currency so we can be clear as to the cost of it. We will buy in naira. I’m sure we are going to have access to cheaper Jet A1 fuel,” Keyamo had added.
Some Nigerians on X, in praising Keyamo’s performances in the Aviation ministry, concluded that he is the most productive minister in the industry for a long time.
@jideomiyale wrote: Thank you for the prompt rebuttal of this twisted headline. But let me ask, why are we like this in this country. Some are working tirelessly to fix the country, the media will be twisting their position to suit their gullible audience. God help my country Nigeria.”
@truebenny001 added: “While I used to be one of the strongest critics of this man, I must confess his performance as Aviation Minister has been nothing short of stellar.
“I think it’s important we profess accolades as vehemently as we pronounce criticisms, because in the end, a Nigeria that works is what we seek.”
@c_chaiwi write: I have never like @fkeyamo Keyamu before but now I am in love with him, President @officialABAT Almost make a mistake, because Keyamu was one of the last ministers appointed by the president, For Me, Keyamu is the best performing minister of this administration.”
@Mroni2149 submitted that: “Your second paragraph should be edited; most of the people that criticized vehemently does so because their candidate or party is not in govt not because they seek a better Nigeria. With this your commendation, you have displayed thorough patriotism. God bless you.”
