A day after Nigeria was treated to a show of defiance, the Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara, has vehemently denied reports circulating in the press and social media, to the fact that, he sacked the State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi.
Fubara has also distanced himself from the purported suspension of Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas in his state.
He claimed that the reports emerged during the period of turbulence in the attempt to stop members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from carrying his impeachment proceeding and the ensuing chaos in the Assembly complex.
The governor’s denial came amidst the presidential intervention in the brewing political crisis, between Fubara and his predecessor and political godfather, Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State revealed told State House Correspondents that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stepped in to resolve the political tension in Rivers State and between Governor Fabura and Minister Wike.
“He (President Tinubu) has shown that he is President for PDP and APC. We are going to work with him,” Mohammed said.
Earlier in the day, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asked all parties in the crisis to sheathe their swords and allow for peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues.
“In order to guarantee that all issues and points of contention are resolved, the NWC uses the Party’s internal dispute resolution procedures and asks all PDP members and supporters to maintain calm.” The statement said in part.
