Garlands to The Remarkable Life of A Maestro, Earl Osaro Onaiwu
By Marian Isekwemen
Today, December 23rd, marks the birthday of an extraordinary Nigerian, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, fondly known as ‘The Earl of Africa.’
Born in Benin City, Edo State, Earl Osaro carved a niche for himself early, when his contemporaries where uncertain about the direction of the whirlwind of life.
He stood out distinctively at Baptist High School where he was among the self-effacing seniors. He had the unforgettable stylish personality of a merveric – no wonder he had turned into a top notch public relations empresario.
As a youngster in early twenties, Earl Osaro became a Special Assistant to the then Bendel State Military Administrator Col. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, making him the youngest to occupy such position for decades, and later, Vice President Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, then Vice President appointed him also as Special Assistant.
He was the Chief Executive Officer of the first customized mobile phones operator in Lagos, Nigeria, the Dreamline Network, predating the arrival of GSM.
He also founded Redcarpet Protocol, a highly sought-after VIP Protocol Service and Consulting Firm, delivering excellent protocol and executive event management as well as consultancy services to governments and state executives.
His activism in politics has contributed immensely to entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria. He was the pioneer Director-General of both the Nigeria Governors Forum and PDP Governors Forum.
Earl Osaro’s impact on Nigerian politics is undeniable, having worked with several important political figures across party lines, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Beyond accomplishments in business and politics, Earl Osaro is a devoted family man, married to the elegant Lady Joy Osaro Onaiwu, the young lady he said ‘I do’ to 40 years ago. They are both blessed with seven children and several grandchildren.
Philanthropists open their hands for others. Some philanthropists are garrulous with their deeds, Earl Osaro plays his cards silently. He is a man of good deeds. Not many know this fact about him. Over the years, he has managed to keep his charitable works away from public celebration, unlike some others.
As we other friends and well wishers to celebrate Earl Osaro Onaiwu, we wish him an amazing celebration and many more years of perfect health, grace, wisdom, and continued success.
