The outgoing administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is in big trouble as he is finding it difficult to release the financial records of his operations during his stewardship as chief executive of the state, to the Transition Committee established by the victorious All Progressives Congress (APC).

It will be recalled that Obaseki had earlier in June, 2024, set up a 20-man transition committee, headed by his ex-finance commissioner, Joseph Eboigbe who returned to service under mysterious circumstances as Secretary to State Government.

During tthe opening section of the joint Transition Committees of the current government and the incoming administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo, Eboigbe during his power-point presentation gave Obaseki thumps-up for perfect bookkeeping and promised to present the records to the Dr. Pius Odubu led Transition Committee.

However, his promise has vanished through the window as he has refused to produce relevant records of the financial transactions made by Obaseki and his team.

Obaseki-Salami, accused of corruption

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has continually accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of monumental scale corruption, citing diversion of several billions of funds meant for the development of the state.

Midwest Herald had earlier reported how the Attorney General of the state Mr. Oluwole Uzzi, along with the Chairperson of the State Universal Basic Education, Mrs. Ozavize Salami allegedly, illegally withdrew N100 million from a bank with forged signatory, claiming that they used the money to kill rats in public primary schools in the state.
