Edo Governorship Election Tribunal Commences Sitting Soon

The Edo State Off-Cycle Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to convene in Benin City anytime from now.
This indication comes with the selection of the justices that will hear the petitions by some of the political parties and their candidates.
According to information gathered by Midwest Herald, Justice W.I. Kpochi from Benue State is Chairman of the three-man tribunal.
The two other judges are A.A. Adewole from Ogun State and Z.T. Gani from Niger State.
Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in the election held on Saturday September 21, 2024.
According to the results from 18 local government areas (LGAs) announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes. His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,655 votes.
Olumide Akpata, representing the Labour Party (LP), finished third, receiving a total of 22,763 votes.
so ffar, only the PDP and its candidate, Ighodalo have indicated their intention to challenge the results in the tribunal.
