The ‘Interrogate Them’ challenge thrown up by Osarodion Ogie, running mate to Mr. Asue Ighodalo has been accepted by Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Addressing an unprecedented crowd yesterday in Jattu, Etsako West of Edo State, the former Deputy Governor promised to also respond to the challenge of who has scandals and not.
“You can see how confused they have become. I became deputy governor at 46, they are bringing ‘epa’ Ogie to be deputy governor at 66.
“Is that what Nigerian youths want? Edo youths can never accept a 66 years old man as deputy governor of Edo State.
“I was deputy governor at 46, are we going forward or backward?
“They say the youths are leaders of tomorrow, ‘epa’ is now taking our position, we won’t allow it. And they’re talking about scandal.
“I heard Ogie say scandal, when we open the next page, we will know who has scandal and who doesn’t have scandal.”
Earlier, the energetic and fierce talking former leader of Edo State House of Assembly and ex deputy governor, revealed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and members who had gathered all day to receive him, that the PDP governorship candidate, Ighodalo funded his impeachment by Edo State House of Assembly.
“The whole issue of impeachment was to get me to support Assembly Ighodalo.
“Ighodalo himself funded the impeachment and that’s the person who wants to be governor of Edo State.
“He is not governor yet, he is already funding impeachment.
“For me, the they thought they could use the impeachment thing to get me to support Asue Ighodalo, but I said no,” Comrade Shaibu said.
Earlier this month, Osarodion Ogie who the current Secretary to Edo State Government and running mate to Ighodalo in the September 21, 2024 governorship election, while in London to seek the support of diasporians, announced to his audience that he has been in government for over 20 years without a trace of scandal to his name.
Ogie named the offices he has served to include that of Chief of Staff; Commissioner of Works; and Secretary to Edo State (twice). He urged his audience in London to interrogate other candidates who are in the race.
Comrade Shaibu may have accepted the challenge on behalf of the candidates by openly promising to open the can of worms at the slightest provocation.
