By Reporter
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has charged Judges in the State to maintain the good name they have been known for, over the years.
Shaibu gave the charge on this Friday, October 6, 2023 during the State Judiciary Thanksgiving Mass marking the beginning of the 2023/2024 Legal Year, held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Benin City.
He described Judges in the State as courageous, maintaining that Edo prides itself as having the best Judges in Nigeria.
According to him, “For us, in Edo, we can pride ourselves as having the best Judges in Nigeria because we have a system that works, and parades courageous Judges. We have never had any issue with any of them — for me, this year will not be an exception.”
“What we would be expecting of them (the Judges) is to keep the good name they are known for”
“My prayer for them is that as they start the new legal year, more cases that will give justice to our people will be entertained. And God will continue to be with them as He has always been.”
The Deputy Governor thanked God for a successful vacation for the Judges and for bringing them back safely in good health.
Shaibu was accompanied to the thanksgiving mass by his wife, Comrade (Mrs.) Maryann Shaibu. Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Blessing Agbebaku.
