Edo 2024: Battle for PDP Ticket Resumes in Court…’Processes not Filed Court Next March 14 Will Be Deemed Adopted’ – Judge
One of the several court cases challenging the election of Mr. Asue Ighodaro as the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State, continued today at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The case with Suit No.: FHC/ABJ/CS/195/2024, between Adizetu Hadizat Audrey Abosede Adunni Umoru Vs INEC and others, before Justice Ekwo Federal High Court Abuja.
When the matter came up today, Matthew Burkaa SAN, with Dr. S. M. Oyeghe, I.B. Ahmad, Esq and Emmanuel Agwungwu, Esq. appeared for the applicant.

While A. K. Ajibade SAN etal appeared for the 2nd defendant; A.T. Kehinde SAN etal for 3rd and 4th defendants and Oluwole Iyamo SAN etal announced appearance for the 5th and 6th defendants. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was not represented in court.
Counsel to the 2nd to 6th defendants confirmed service of the Originating processes on them and identified processes filed by them.
None of the defendants have filed Counter Affidavit to the Originating Summon.
The Court made an Order directing the defendants to file their Counter-Affidavits within 10days. Plaintiff Counsel was directed by court to respond within 3 days.
The judge also ordered that processes of a party that is not in court at the next adjourned date will be deemed adopted.
Case was adjourned to 14th March, 2024 for hearing of the Originating processes and Preliminary Objection.
