The Edo House of Assembly has noted the terrible condition of roads in the state and called on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to intervene by rehabilitating all the deplorable federal roads in the state ahead of the festive season.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku noted the condition yesterday, October 27, 2025 during plenary session.
Agbebaku raised serious concerns over the deplorable state of the Benin-Auchi road and others.
He said the deplorable state had compelled motorists to use Oluku/NIFOR-Sobe road as alternative access routes to their respective destinations.
Agbebaku urged FERMA to, as a matter of urgency, fix the deplorable roads before the festive season, as the roads had made traveling on the route a nightmare.
“The Benin-Agbor, Benin-Auchi, and Oluku-NIFOR/Sobe roads, amongst others, urgently need the attention of FERMA ahead of the festive season,” Agbebaku said.
It will be recalled that kidnappers have laid siege on the Oluku-Owan road for sometimes, where motorists are forcefully adopted and taken into the forest.
