Access to quality and affordable healthcare remains a major challenge for many Nigerians, especially in
underserved communities where economic hardship continues to limit timely access to care.

At the same time, preventive health education is becoming increasingly important as communities contend with the growing burden of alcohol misuse and drug abuse, particularly among young people.

In response to these pressing concerns, distinguished Senator Neda Imasuen is facilitating a free
medical outreach programme for residents of Evbuotubu Community in Egor Local Government Area,
Edo State, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

The outreach is designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people while promoting preventive health education.

This year’s outreach will place special emphasis on alcohol and drug abuse prevention, with a focus on public sensitisation, early intervention, and healthier lifestyle choices.

Through targeted education and advocacy, the programme aims to raise awareness about the dangers, health implications, and longterm social consequences of substance abuse, while encouraging individuals and families to make informed decisions that support overall well-being.

Beyond the sensitisation component, beneficiaries will receive a broad range of free healthcare
services, including health talks, physical examination, BMI and vital signs checks, blood pressure
checks, malaria testing, blood sugar testing, consultations with medical doctors and optometrists,
eye examinations including visual acuity testing and ophthalmoscopy, and free prescription glasses.

Free medications will also be provided based on clinical assessment, including antimalarials,
antihypertensives, oral hypoglycaemic agents, antibiotics, antihelminthics, analgesics, vitamins,
and other essential medicines.

This outreach reflects Senator Neda Imasuen’s continued commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of his constituents by making quality essential healthcare more accessible, especially for those
who may otherwise face barriers to essential healthcare.

Beyond immediate treatment and relief, the programme is expected to contribute to disease prevention, health promotion, and stronger community awareness around substance abuse and healthy living.

At its core, the outreach represents a practical expression of compassionate and people-centred
leadership, one that recognises that stronger communities are built when healthcare, prevention, and
public education reach the people who need them most.
