The Rivers House of Assembly has resolved to probe the state’s finances during the six-month rule of Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator.

The Assembly also asked Governor Siminalayi Fubara to transmit the list of commissioners’ nominees for screening and approval.

The lawmakers resumed sitting on Thursday morning after they were removed from office by President Bola Tinubu l, relying on the emergency rule as provided by the Nigerian Constitution.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday suspended the emergency rule with all democratic structures in the state restored.

Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, presided over the plenary at the conference hall at the legislative quarters.

On March 18, Tinubu declared emergency rule in the state following a protracted political crisis arising from the rift between Fubara and former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, and now minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Subsequently, Fubara, Ngozi Nma Odu, his deputy, and the legislators were suspended for a period of six months by the president, and this paved way for Tinubu appointed Ibas as sole administrator of the state for the period.
