Benin Unity Cup: Edo Ex-Int’l to Face Friends of Sen. Neda Imasuen – Erhunmwunse (FA Chairman)

The Edo State Football Association has concluded plans for novelty match to mark the conclusion of the 2025 Benin Unity Cup. According to the statement issued and signed by the Edo FA Chairman, and Chairman LOC Benin Unity Cup, Mr. Fred Newton Erhunmwunse the novelty match will see Nigeria’s ex internationals lock horns with Friends of Senator Neda Imasuen.
The statement reads: “The Edo State Football Association hereby announces that the Grand Finale of the 2025 Benin Unity Cup is scheduled to hold on Sunday, 21st December 2025, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
“In line with the Association’s commitment to fostering unity and promoting social cohesion among the people of Edo State, a Curtain Raiser Novelty Football Match has been arranged in honour of the Host and Principal Sponsor of the tournament, Distinguished Senator Neda Imasuen.
“This novelty encounter will feature friends of Senator Neda Imasuen versus Ex-Football Internationals of Edo State Indigenes
“The fixture will precede the main final of the Benin Unity Cup and is intended to serve as a unifying engagement for Edo people, particularly during the festive Yuletide season.”
The FA Chairman added that “…the match aims to strengthen communal bonds, celebrate our shared heritage, and underscore the spirit of togetherness that the Benin Unity Cup represents.
While stressing the support of Senator Imasuen, Mr. Erhunmwunse added that: “Edo State Football Association wishes to formally acknowledge and commend Senator Neda Imasuen for his full sponsorship of this novelty match, as well as for his continued contributions to grassroots football development and community enrichment within the state.
“The Association hereby invites the general public, football stakeholders, traditional institutions, and supporters of the game to attend this event and participate in the celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the advancement of football in Edo State,” the Football Association implored football enthusiasts.
