Battle for Edo 2024 Thickens: Osakue, Oredo PDP Leader, Resigns…Says Party On a Journey of Self-Destruct

All is not well with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State as the resignation of prominent members and leaders continue unabated.

The latest to join the long list is the leader of PDP in Oredo Local Government Area and a member of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Council in the state, Mr Martins Owamagbe Aimuanwonsa Osakue, Leader Oredo PDP.

Osakue’s resignation letter

In a letter signed and dispatched to the Ward 2 chairman, Mr. Osakue wrote: “With reference to recent developments within the PDP, I wish to formally resign my membership of the party. This is effective immediately.

“In the last couple of years, it has become evident from the various mismanaged
Primary Election processes whether at national, state or local levels that the PDP has become a party on a journey of self-destruct.

“Added to the party’s plethora of problems, is the impression that has been created that the party (PDP) does not mean well for my region (Edo South) and my professional interest.

“As a true Benin, it has become necessary to run far away from this party. Thus going forward, we (my colleagues, supporters etc) shall interrogate the other party candidates since the PDP candidate has volunteered to continue on the path and programmes of the Obaseki regime,” the ex-PDP leader said.

“In the next one week, we shall ask questions: Where is Tayo Akpata University Adams Oshiomhole left for Edo South?

“As a candidate, are you ready and willing to bring back Tayo Akpata within three months of your inauguration if you win?

“Are you and your party ready to do something drastic about the various unbearable taxes imposed on businesses and individuals across Edo State?” Osakue said of the questions he and his group intends ask governorship candidates before they will declare their support.
