Armed Robbery Attack: Edo Police Command Confirms Death of ‘Europe-Based’ Business Man

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a Europe based businessman, identified as ‘Derick’, after he was robbed by armed robbers in broad daylight at the popular Igun Street spare parts market, in Benin City, capital of the state.
The Command confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in Benin City.

CSP Moses Yamu—the Public Relations Officer of the Command, who confirmed the tragic incident, said investigation was on going to apprehend the perpetrators who eye witnesses said operated in a Lexus 300 SUV.
The gang of robbers who have been linked to previous armed robbery incidents, reportedly shot the deceased after he resisted their attempt to steal his “gold necklace valued at N50 million.”
The gunmen Midwest Herald gathered, emerged from their car and accosted the late ‘Derick’, before demanding for the jewelry, but he refused and they shot his two legs.
The gang thereafter sped off the scene with the jewellery.
Good Samaritans later rushed the victim to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival,” reports stated.
