The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed vote of confidence on Governor Monday Okpebholo, the State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, and the State Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah, in recognition of their service to the party in the state.
This comes on the heels of pent-up agitation for leadership change in the state party organ.
The latest confidence vote is part of key decisions reached at the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held yesterday, Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the party secretariat in Benin City, where members deliberated on issues affecting the smooth running and cohesion of the party.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Barr. Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, after the meeting chaired by Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, the committee amongst other decisions, announced the immediate lifting of the suspension placed on Hon. Valentine Asue and Mrs. Stella Ogbetta, Woman Leader of Oredo Ward 12. Both members were earlier suspended for various reasons.
The committee urged Asue and Ogbetta to resume their membership of the party and continue to contribute to the growth and unity of the APC in their respective wards.
The committee also addressed the suspension of Alhaji Abubakar Akokhia, former Party Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area. It directed the current LGA Chairman to submit a comprehensive report on Akokhia’s relationship with the party to guide the committee in deciding whether to lift or sustain his suspension.
However, the SWC resolved that the suspension of Mallam Adamu Ototobor, Ward 9 Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, remains in force until further notice. It will be recalled that Ototobor’s suspension was rumoured to have started the cold war between the Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Abubakar Month and the acting Dtate Chairman, Jattett Tenebe.
While reaffirming commitment to fairness, internal democracy, and unity within the Edo APC, the State Working Committee called on all members to working together to strengthen the party and uphold its values across all levels in the state.
