Former Edo State University VC Dies Shortly After Handing Over to Successor

Prof. Dawood Egbefo the immediate past Acting Vice Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyahmo, is dead.
According to the announcement by the spokesman of the university, Amaechi Kelly Quincy,
Egbefo died on August 27, just two weeks after he handed over to the new Vice Chancellor.
Prof Victor Adetimirin Olawale was announced by the Edo State Government as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
The late VC formally handed over to Olawale on August 11, 2025.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
The statement described the late Professor Egbefo as a distinguished scholar, an astute administrator and a mentor to many within the academic community.
According to the statement, the late acting Vice Chancellor’s dedication, humility, and commitment to the advancement of education left an indelible mark in the history of the university.
The management of the institution extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues, friends, and the entire academic staff.
