The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has announced the suspension of one Ogunleye-Dele Victor Omozuanvbo a party member in Owan West Local Government of the state. According to a statement sent to Midwest Herald, Omozuanvbo was suspended for “promoting faction and disunity within the party ranks. “

The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter, wishes to inform the general public and members of our great party that Mr. Ogunleye-Dele Victor Omozuanvbo, the party’s 2023 Councillorship Candidate for Ward 4, Owan West Local Government Area, has been suspended from the party with immediate effect.

“This action follows a recent reckless and unauthorized publication made by Mr. Ogunleye-Dele, which was circulated widely on social and political platforms, in which he launched disparaging, inflammatory, and unprovoked attacks on the State Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, and made unguarded statements capable of inciting division and unrest within the party in Edo North and the state at large.

“In clear violation of Article 21 of the APC Constitution, Mr. Ogunleye-Dele’s conduct represents: Gross insubordination to constituted party authority; Public embarrassment to the party’s leadership structure.

“Promotion of factionalism and disunity within the party ranks; and a breach of the party’s disciplinary code through the dissemination of internal issues to the public in a manner unbecoming of a party member.”

The party therefore considerd Omozuanvbo statement to be not only disrespectful and divisive, but also a calculated attempt to weaken the authority of the State Chairman and undermine internal peace in Owan West, and disrupt the stability of the APC in Edo State.

“We must stress that the APC is a party guided by law, order, discipline, and due process. No individual, regardless of previous aspirations—has the right to unilaterally challenge the collective decisions of the party or insult its leadership in public.

“In light of the above, the APC Edo State Chapter hereby suspends Mr. Ogunleye-Dele Victor Omozuanvbo from all activities of the party, pending further disciplinary review by the State Disciplinary Committee.

“We call on all loyal and committed members of the APC across Edo State to remain united and reject all acts that promote disaffection, rebellion, or personal aggrandizement at the expense of party cohesion, the statement concluded.
