By Correspondent
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State is sliding into irretrievable legal battle over the disputed Ward Congresses that was conducted on February 4, 2024 in the state.
Checks at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja revealed that the Godwin Obaseki faction are facing herculean task to perfect the alleged rigging that was perpetuated during the vexed Congress election.
Ojezua, Aggrieved
Competent sources revealed to Midwest Herald reporter who was at the Wadata plaza that some persons have been hired to re-enter the result into fresh result sheets with different writings and signatures.
Our reporter also gathered at Edo House in Abuja that the situation was the same. A source who is disturbed by the protracted infighting in the PDP confirmed that, their task is to ensure that all the results from 192 wards are re-written on fresh result sheets and return everything to Mr. Umar Bature, National Organising Secretary of PDP.
Gov Obaseki, desperate to install a successor
It will be recalled that, the Chairman of Congress Appeal Committee, His Excellency, Seriaki Dickson had expressed worries over the outcome of the exercise which he admitted was marred with electoral irregularities.

Meanwhile, one of the governorship aspirant, Mr. Anselm Ojezua Esq has faulted the wards delegates election, claiming it was marred by irregularities and illegalities.
He spoke in an interview on Democracy Today, a programme on Channels Television. Ojezua said the PDP runs the risk of not fielding a candidate for the September 21 governorship election if the party accepts the results of ward delegates election that has been discredited.
PDP Nat’l Chairman, Damagum, will Edo PDP collapse in his hands?
“The entire process was fraught with all kinds of irregularities and even illegalities. You know, sometimes party officials can get very reckless because of the current stance of the supreme court that internal wrangling within the party when it comes to primaries, that there is no jurisdiction.
“But it’s not the same with illegality. Once there is a legal requirement, it must be complied with.” Ojezua said.
Asked what his plans are if the party goes ahead with the results of delegates election?
He replied that: “We have quite a number of options available to us. We are taking the first step which is taking advantage of the internal dispute resolution mechanisms within the party.
“We are confident that the party will look at it and in the interest of the party take decisions that they ought to take. Because at the moment, PDP runs the risk of not fielding a candidate for the election.
“And I must say this, the National Working Committee or those of them who perpetrated this act together with the people they colluded with in Benin, they will take responsibilities.”
Midwest Herald can authoritatively report that, all the disputed results for the 192 wards that were signed by Governor Peter Mbah and Pascal Adigwe have been sent for forensic report.
In the light of this latest development, it is left to be seen how Obaseki and his factional PDP members in Edo State and others in the NWC will manage to substitute the flawed results with those they are allegedly rewriting.
